SCP at ACEP17: Largest, Most Prestigious EM Conference in the World

  • Share

Schumacher Clinical Partners is once again a sponsor and participant in the 2017 American College of Emergency Physicians Scientific Assembly (ACEP17), held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., beginning this weekend, October 29 – November 1.

Where can you find SCP during the Assembly? Don’t miss these six key areas where SCP makes an appearance at this year’s ACEP.

1. Urgent Matters Innovation of the Year Award Ceremony

SCP is once again an Urgent Matters co-sponsor for the “Innovation of the Year” award. Dr. Jesse Pines, MD, MBA, MSCE, George Washington University, will present the award on Saturday, Oct. 28, to this year’s winner, the Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center ED Telehealth Express Care Service.

The medical center developed a new way to use telemedicine where ER doctors examine low-acuity patients without being in the same room. The service is transforming the emergency care experience for both patients and doctors, drastically reducing wait times — from 2-3 hours to a median of 39 minutes — without sacrificing quality.

2. Emergency Nurse Practitioners Leadership Conference

Dr. Randy Pilgrim, SCP Enterprise Chief Medical Officer, is the guest speaker for the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners’ luncheon during their Leadership Conference, hosted from October 27-29 in conjunction with the Assembly.

The theme of his presentation on Saturday, Oct. 28, is “In Your Best Interest: How Emergency Medicine is Advocating for Your Specialty, Your Patients, and You.”

Kyle Kincaid, Section Director of NP/PA Services for SCP and President of AAENP, stated in a recent interview that the organization – which began with 3 members and now has over 700 – is looking forward to Dr. Pilgrim’s important discussion.

“Today’s healthcare climate demands that NPs serve as strong leaders and advocates within the emergency care arena. Schumacher Clinical Partners has supported the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP) since its inception, and the AAENP Leadership Conference provides another opportunity to partner with integral members of our emergency care teams,” he explained. “As NP leaders become increasingly equipped in the areas of research, advocacy, and policy, our SCP emergency team is strengthened. AAENP will have leaders from a diverse group of national organizations all with the goals of improvement in Emergency care, development of NP leadership, and inter-professional collaboration.”

3. ACEP17 Expo

Don’t miss out on visiting our primary booth throughout ACEP— #1707 — in the Expo hall, from Sunday through Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Join us for great takeaway items, a fun Tap Snap #makingmemories event, and demos on our hot-off-the-press mySCP app. In addition, SCP medical leadership will be present in the booth at various times.

4. ACEP17 Kickoff Party

SCP is again the presenting sponsor for the much anticipated ACEP17 Kickoff Party, “Night at the Newseum,” at the Newseum in D.C., Sunday, October 29, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.

The Newseum is one of the top 25 museums in the U.S. and features several exhibits spanning decades of news events that include 1967: Civil Rights at 50, Berlin Wall Gallery, “Louder Than Words: Rock, Power and Politics,” and Today’s Front Pages Gallery.

Registrants can enjoy music, dancing, and light hors-d’oeuvres in a family-friendly setting. Drink tickets will also be available to all ACEP17 registrants. Stop by the SCP booth #1707 to pick up your VIP pass.

5. EMRA Job & Fellowship Fair

The EMRA Job & Fellowship Fair will be held during the Assembly, Sunday, October 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Residents who attend look forward to this event each year, where they can scope out prospective job opportunities across the country. SCP will have seven booths at EMRA – one for each region of the US highlighted at the fair.

6. Rorrie Lecture Series Keynote

Last but certainly not least, Dr. Pilgrim will also keynote the Rorrie Lecture Series, a health policy lecture given each year at ACEP. The series is named for Colin C. Rorrie, Jr., Ph.D., who served ACEP as Executive Director from 1982 to 2003.

Dr. Rorrie was instrumental in encouraging and guiding the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic planning process with focused priority objectives. He also led the development of ACEP’s Washington office and in elevating the stature of emergency medicine’s advocacy efforts.

Dr. Pilgrim’s keynote is “United We Stand: The Influence of Emergency Physicians on Key Health and Public Policy Issues.”

In his talk, Dr. Pilgrim will draw on his more than 25 years of experience as a leader in emergency medicine to provide updates regarding current key public policy issues for emergency physicians.

He is scheduled to speak Monday, October 30, from 12:30 – 1:20 p.m. in room 146B in the WCC.

As you can see, SCP is heavily invested in #ACEP17.

Make plans to join us for this exciting event, the largest and most prestigious Emergency Medicine conference in the world. Visit the ACEP website for more – there’s still time to register!
