Improving Hospital Medicine Metrics and Collaboration Between Facilities

Part two: One system’s operational, staffing, and core metric transformation

In part two of this story, SCP Health began to build on the staffing success that it had already achieved with this system (read more about that in part one, if you missed it). Now that all the facilities had full schedules, SCP Health and the system turned their attention to retaining the clinicians and improving on operational and patient care metrics.

Read part two of this case study to see how SCP Health decreased length of stay from 6 to 4.8 days, reduced readmission rates from 20% to 14%, and avoided burnout and turnover by cutting the provider patient load nearly in half.
